Kagoshima Reports Record Agricultural and Fishery Exports in 2024
Record-breaking export figures for agricultural, forestry, livestock, and fishery products produced in Kagoshima
Kagoshima Prefecture announced record-breaking export figures for its agricultural, forestry, livestock, and fishery products during a press conference held on July 28. Governor shared the 2024 results and outlining strategic goals for future growth.
According to the report, the total export value reached its highest level since tracking began, marking a 28% increase over the previous year. Also, Steady year-on-year growth since 2021 has been observed.
U.S. Tops Country Rankings; EU and China Follow
By destination, the United States ranked first with exports valued at ¥23 billion, followed by the European Union at ¥4.8 billion and China at ¥4.4 billion.
Outlook and Challenges
The prefectural government reaffirmed its long-standing goal to reach ¥50 billion in exports by 2026 and said that it wolud continue to make effort so as to achive it.
In response to questions about the international trade environment, the governor would keep a close watch the tariff of the U.S.. Also, the governor expressed expectation, regarding market of 'Wagyu' opportunities following China's partial reopening.
The press conference also touched on local issues, including increasing congestion in airport parking facilities and other chalenges.
