The announcement focused on three strategic projects aimed at addressing population decline, building sustainable infrastructure, and laying the foundation for long-term regional development.

1. “Best Prefecture in Japan” Project

This initiative seeks to slow the pace of population decline by enhancing Miyazaki's appeal and livability. It consists of three key components:

  • Improving social systems that support parenting and expanding engagement with Miyazaki among residents and visitors

  • Promoting decarbonized management practices in agriculture, forestry, and fisheries

  • Developing tourism centered on sports and active recreation

2. Building a Sustainable Society Adapted to Population Decline

This project aims to restructure social systems to function effectively in a shrinking population environment. It includes:

  • Enhancing essential infrastructure such as medical care and transportation

  • Revitalizing local industries by securing human resources—including foreign nationals—and accelerating the adoption of digital technologies

3. Laying the Foundation for Future Growth

To ensure long-term development, Miyazaki will pursue the following policies:

  • Promoting tourism and cultural activities in connection with the 2027 National Sports Festival to be held in Miyazaki

  • Establishing a wide-area transportation network linking Miyazaki to other regions via Shinkansen and international air routes

  • Preserving and passing down local heritage to future generations

Kyushu-Wide Regional Action Plan

Following the announcement of Miyazaki's 2026 priorities, The Miyazaki governor introduced the Kyushu-wide regional action plan, which has been recognized by Japan's national government as a model for inter-prefectural collaboration. The plan outlines seven priority projects:
