Saga Prefecture Announces Major Events for Regional Promotion and Youth Engagement
On August 8, the Government of Saga Prefecture held a press conference to unveil a series of upcoming initiatives focused on environmental awareness, tourism, urban development, and youth education.
National Urban Greening Event to Be Held in Saga in Spring 2028
Saga Prefecture will host one of Japan’s largest environmental events—the nationwide urban greening initiative—in spring 2028. Since 2017, the prefecture has actively involved local residents in efforts to preserve its mountains, rivers, and coastal areas for future generations.
The event’s concept centers on learning how people have coexisted with nature, rethinking the value of natural resources, and envisioning a future society in harmony with the environment. In conjunction with the event, Saga will also organize an exposition showcasing conservation activities related to mountain ecosystems.
“Romancing Sa・Ga” Collaboration Returns—Now Featuring Arita and Imari
Saga’s long-running collaboration with the popular video game series *Romancing Sa・Ga* will return on October 25, this time spotlighting the Arita and Imari areas—renowned for their ceramics and cultural heritage.
Now in its 11th year, the event will expand into these regions for the first time. New attractions and merchandise will be announced soon, including a commemorative monument, pottery painting experiences themed around the game, and special collaborative food offerings.
TOSU NESTIVAL 2025: Unlocking the Potential of Tosu’s East District
Saga Prefecture and Tosu City will co-host *TOSU NESTIVAL 2025* on October 4, 5, 11, and 12. The event aims to revitalize the underutilized eastern area of Tosu Station, a key transportation hub in Kyushu.
The area is home to popular sports venues, and the festival will feature live performances, food stalls, and a large-scale monument of the Zosterops japonicus—Tosu’s symbolic bird—drawing inspiration from the iconic flower puppy sculpture at the Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao. Interactive entertainment inside the monument is also planned.
KidZania Partnership: Career Experience for Saga’s Youth
To promote local employment and career awareness, Saga Prefecture will host a workplace experience event for children under 15 in collaboration with KidZania.
Saga ranks third nationwide in the proportion of residents under age 15 and has set a goal to raise the in-prefecture employment rate among high school graduates to over 65%. Through this initiative, children will explore careers in manufacturing, broadcasting, professional sports, banking, and more.
Sports Business Event for Aspiring Professionals
In addition, Saga will organize an event for individuals interested in sports-related careers. Participants will learn how to generate revenue in the sports industry and gain opportunities to connect with relevant communities.
