Saga Design
Saga Design is an approach and framework that Saga Prefecture uses to advance its policies. The prefecture places strong importance on clearly defining the concept behind every policy and ensuring that this concept is reflected throughout the entire project plan.
To achieve this, Saga Prefecture works with professional creators from a wide range of fields and incorporates design thinking into every stage—from planning to implementation. A dedicated department functions as a hub, supporting other divisions and connecting them with appropriate creators and specialists.
The department's main roles include:
Defining problems and outlining pathways to solve them
Establishing the key concept for each project
Designing mechanisms that allow projects to operate effectively
Evaluating proposals submitted by external contributors
Coordinating internal staffing
Matching departments with suitable creators or professionals
Providing direction for visual design and related materials
Offering additional consultation and advice as needed
Achievements (Example)

Developed facilities based on the concept of creating a more walkable city
SAGA BLUE PROJECT:
Reduced traffic accidents by introducing blue‑framed pavement at intersections and color‑coded lanes
